Play Dyneema Smooth Rope - 8 Strands
These 100% DYNEEMA® ropes are made with an 8-spindle process to be extremely soft and smooth to the touch. They are ideal for ROPE DART construction for parts that must not absorb fuel or come in direct contact with flame. The 8-spindle process is ideal for easily making strong and aesthetically clean splice eyes without the need for bulky metal parts or knots, thus maintaining lightness and flexibility.
Specification:
- Diameter: 8mm
- Price: for one meter
- Colour: Grey
Dyneema (Gel Spun Polyethylene) is a synthetic fiber particularly suitable for the production of traction cables. It is especially used for sports applications such as kitesurfing, sailing, flying giant kites, paragliding, mountaineering, archery, both sport and professional fishing, and the production of bulletproof vests.
Dyneema lanyards have exceptional strength, comparable to that of steel cables, but with the advantage of resisting twisting and bending stresses very well. In addition, by means of the splicing technique, Dyneema lends itself very well to making eyelets at the ends (gassees) or at the junction of two strands. One of the main disadvantages of Dyneema ropes and cords is that they have very low shear strength, for example, after being put under tension and should they be rubbed by other Kevlar (or similar materials) strands that are themselves under tension.
The Dyneema fiber produced today has special characteristics for strength relative to its diameter, we are talking about a few kilograms for strands with diameters of about 0.10-0.12 millimeters, and in particular results in a strand that is virtually free of elasticity.
